DRIVING TO YOU

-AAKRITI THATAL

As I sit out tonight, breathing in the air as fresh as
Time itself, I smell the occasional stale in it,
With thoughts hitting me from the ten named directions.
Thoughts one does not think.
Thoughts one doesn't talk about.

Tonight, as I sit outside, I remember.
I remember wanting to drive past the facade
You and I created for ourselves and move past through
To the age that brings us healing and warmth.
Tonight, I am visited by the warm moistness that
Gathers and collects in the corners of the eyes on me,
Reminding just every now and then that
Our speeds and destinations differed midway.
Reminding me that the ages we came to
Are distinct and independent of each other.

Tonight, I pity the indolence of the heart I possess,
And the scanty nourishment from who and what is near is non-existent almost.
However, tonight,
I still am motivated to love one and many
By the love you showed me.

Tonight, I am ready to drive.
Towards You.
Towards Your Divinity.
